FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How can I verify that the ALC ALLIGATOR Splice is correctly installed?
Once the bars have been inserted at both ends of the splice and it has been verified that they are in their correct position (through the central hole), the screws are tightened until the heads of thembreak. It is permissible that the head of a bolt does not break during installation, provided that the correct torque for the bolt has been achieved as specified in the technical documentation. However, the installation will only be considered satisfactory if the height H specified in that documentation is not exceeded.
Can any type of tool be used to install this system?
No. All shear bolts must be tightened with an electric or pneumatic wrench. It is important to tighten bolts starting from the center and working outward until all heads have sheared.
Can splicing be carried out on bars with different diameters?
Yes, ALLIGATOR transition splices allow two rebars of different diameters to be connected. This splice can help the designer optimize the structure in a safe and economical way.
